Cheng Kwok Ming: From an act of service to saving a life

A newborn baby with a high fever and severe cramps is a terrifying prospect for any parent. When it happened to one of his residents, Cheng Kwok Ming, ISS Senior Security Guard at Villa Lotto in Hong Kong, immediately stepped in. His quick thinking ensured life-saving urgent care in a moment of crisis.  At 61 years old, Cheng Kwok Ming, who was recognised as a finalist in this year’s Global Apple Awards, is the first point of contact for residents and visitors at Villa Lotto in Hong Kong. As an ISS Senior Security Guard, his impact reaches far beyond security. Each day requires him to stay alert, show care, and make quick decisions. For Ming, the goal is simple: to create a safe, welcoming space where people feel at home.

Anita Chan: Barclays Management Team

On July 2025, a medical emergency unfolded at the Barclays office when a client fainted in the restroom. With no female security staff available, Anita immediately stepped forward. She delegated her duties to her team, accompanied the client in the ambulance, and stayed until she was safely home and in good spirits. Her quick thinking and compassion not only safeguarded the client’s wellbeing but also embodied the ISS spirit of putting people’s safety first.

Kirsten Hui: Property & Asset Management Services Team

In April 2025, Kirsten showed remarkable compassion and presence of mind when a colleague at Tin Ma Court failed to report for duty. Sensing something was wrong, she quickly reached out to the colleague’s family, alerted the management office, and encouraged the family to involve the police. Her decisive actions led to the discovery that the colleague had peacefully passed away in his sleep. Kirsten’s empathy and professionalism reflect the very best of ISS values — demonstrating care, responsibility, and humanity in moments that matter most.

Joining ISS in May 2025 through the government’s Enhanced Supplementary Labour Scheme, Lina faced the challenge of adapting to a new culture and environment in Hong Kong. Despite being new, she quickly embraced her role as a restroom cleaner with dedication and professionalism. Within just two months, Lina achieved a perfect client review score of 100 — a remarkable testament to her adaptability, commitment, and pursuit of excellence. Her journey reflects the strength and resilience of our people, showing how determination and care can overcome challenges and inspire success.
