ISS HK Apple of the Year Award 2018 - Nicholas, Fan Kong Ying

To care, to make a difference!

Nicholas is an Assistant Officer of People Mobilization Team from People & Culture. He joined ISS in 2015. His main responsibility is to allocate frontline manpower to Business Units, ensuring minimum manpower requirement at 100% for operation.

With his great attitude and performance at work, he received the highest number of votes in opening voting for all ISS staffs and becomes Apple of the Year 2018 of Hong Kong.

There is an Apple worthy story behind Nicholas:

It happened when the security guard (Mr. Cheng) found missing. After several contact, it was found that he was suffering from cardiac disease and has been transferred to a local hospital for emergency checking.

“I know Mr. Cheng is at his seventies and lives alone so I am worried about him.”

Nicholas later visited Cheng at hospital. Cheng told Nicholas that he was overwhelmed and delighted by his visit and stated that he forgot to close the window and switch off the electronic appliances at home. After seeking approval from his immediate supervisor, Nicholas visited Cheng’s home to follow and brought him some necessities. Now, Cheng is fully recovered and has wrote Nicholas an appreciation letter.

“The appreciation of Mr. Cheng to me is an encouragement. I believe taking a step forward to care for our colleagues, will make our work better.” – Nicholas.

Apple in ISS is understanding how we can help our customer to achieve their goals. Nicholas found his purpose by ensuring the responded sites have sufficient manpower to operate. Above this, he also treats colleagues as his family members by giving them a warm-hearted greeting. By integrating care into workplace, effective communication can be strengthened, achieving “Happy Employee, Happy Customer”!

Thank you for making a difference to help ISS become the world’s greatest service organisation, Nicholas.

Nicholas found his apple and be recognized, will you be the next one?
