ISS achieves Bronze ranking in the 2017 Dow Jones Sustainability Index

ISS has again been recognised as a sustainability leader within its sector by achieving a Bronze ranking in the 2017 Dow Jones Sustainability Index.
The ranking places ISS in the top 10% of the 44 global companies in the commercial services and supplies sector that are assessed under the DJSI framework.

Joseph Nazareth, Group Vice President, Group Health, Safety & Environment and Corporate Responsibility at ISS, said:

“Our continued strong position in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index reflects our focus on consistently improving our sustainability performance. As an employer of nearly 500,000 people around the world, we are committed to doing right wherever we operate. We are signatories to the United Nations Global Compact and follow the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, including by making the responsibility to respect human rights part of our governance and management documents. Ethical conduct and commitment to our employees, our customers, and the environment are crucial values, and experience shows that high standards of environmental and social performance are accompanied by high financial performance.”

ISS was assessed across three dimensions: Economic, Environmental and Social. On the Economic dimension, ISS continued to strengthen risk management and engagement with its global supply chain by introducing ProcurePASS – a new platform for supplier registration and assurance. ProcurePASS will enable ISS to set out ethical, social and environmental requirements for suppliers more clearly than ever before.

On the Environmental dimension, ISS again achieved a B ranking in the Carbon Disclosure Project. ISS continues to take steps to improve the fuel efficiency of its global vehicle fleet, by focusing on fuel-efficient vehicle selection and e-learning modules for drivers. As a result, carbon emissions from vehicles dropped by over 1,000 tonnes last year.

On the Social dimension, ISS continued to focus on supporting refugees and disadvantaged young people into work. As a result, ISS Denmark was awarded with the 2016 CSR People Prize.
